Ring That Bell

>> Monday, November 9, 2009

I mentioned the other day in this post that I would be sharing more small ways to give big this holiday season and beyond. Today's suggestion doesn't require any money; just a little of your time. You can make a difference this holiday season by volunteering with the Salvation Army as a bell ringer.

We're all familiar with the sound of a ringing bell and the sight of a red kettle during the Christmas holidays. The Salvation Army's Red Kettle campaign allows them to provide food, clothing and toys to over 6 million people during the Christmas season. It also allows them to help over 34 million people recovering from all kinds of personal disasters nationwide. The campaign was started in 1891 and has traditionally been the Salvations Army's biggest fund raising event.

Signing up is simple. Simply go here to find out which locations have openings in your area and select a time. If this is your first time using the site you will need to register. From looking at my local area, you need to be able to fill in one 3 hour block of time.

Maybe this is your small way to give big.
