Emergency Mode
>> Thursday, July 23, 2009
Well, that lovely reworked budget that I worked so hard on yesterday just got thrown out. My husband lost his job this morning. We were completely caught off guard by this, just not even remotely expecting it. We are now in emergency mode with the budget. There is no severance package this time around. There is no comfortable cushion in the checking account this time. We do however have our emergency fund and a lot of skills we've gained over the last year and a half. We trust that the Lord has this all worked out for us already and we just have to move forward and see where He is leading us. And if you like, you're welcome to come along for the ride.

yikes! Does he work for a company that fires/rehires frequently? Or is this a permanent fired?
I'm glad you have a stockpile, an emergency fund (this situation COULD turn into an emergency!), and a lot of wisdom.
You will make it through. It probably won't be easy. But you will make it.
I'm a believer that all things happen for a reason and I'm hoping that you will look back on the situation and rejoice in time to come!
Thank you. The job loss last year came when the company he'd worked with for 11 years filed bankruptcy and restuctured. This was a new company and their only explanation was that he wasn't a good fit for the company. He had no negative marks in his records and they would not give him a specific reason. Very frustrating but what can you do. We would like to move back to Alabama or at least further south than we are. This may be the time we get to do that. We know we'll be okay.
Your tips have greatly effected our budget...thanks so much! I am so sorry for this 'bump' in the road, I pray that you will look back and that's all it will be. We're from Texas, so come on down! Praying!
Thank you so much for your prayers as well as the encouragement of knowing my blog has had a positive impact on your life. I truly enjoy doing this and am so thankful for all the wonderful people I've gotten to know because of it.
I lost my job unexpectedly last December...I even trained the lady that was hired to take my place! We too were at a loss for what to do, but after a lot of prayer, we found that things would indeed work out for the best. Money has been tight, but I am still able to be at home with our 2 small children. God seems to always supply our needs. Maybe not our wants, but we haven't gone hungry yet and the bills are always paid. Your family will be in our prayers. Things will work out for the best!
Thank you for your prayers and encouragement. I'm glad things have worked out for your family.
Oh, Janet. I am so very sorry. ((HUGS)) I wish you the best of luck, sweetie.
Tim only has six more days of work himself, but luckily his company gave us many months of advance notice.
Thank you Christie. I'll be thinking of you and Tim. Does he have anything else lined up?
Janet, I am so sorry to hear about this. Know that your family is in my prayers. You are right that God will provide!!! Keep looking to Him.
Thanks Janet.
We're actually planning on improving Tim's education while he's laid off. After that then we'll see what comes up. Luckily, we've had several months to prepare (financially) for this. I'm positive that things will work out the way they should. :-)
Rachel-Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. I truly appreciate them.
Christie-That's great that Tim will be focusing on his education. I'm sure there will lots of wonderful opportunities ahead for you guys.
