2009 Financial Goals: May Update

>> Friday, June 12, 2009

Well, I had forgotten to do this until I saw MoneySavingMom's update. This is how May went for us.

1) Pay off my husband's car.
Completed in January. Yay!

2)Make monthly "car payments" into a car savings account each month.
Made a partial payment.

3)Build our emergency fund up to six months of living expenses.
Increased savings from 39.4% of goal to 40% of goal.

4) Continue our normal contributions to retirement savings.
done

5) Paying extra on our mortgage.
Still rounding up for small extra payments

6)Save $1000 to cover all expenses for next Christmas.
Account is 69% funded.

7)Finally, by the end of the year, we plan to evaluate our savings plan and find a way to begin saving for college expenses.
Not there yet.

Your doing great on your goals for this year! I am very impressed that you have 69% of your Christmas savings...that is something I haven't even thought of yet but need to since it is almost less than 6 months away!

Look like you have some goals and plan laid outo. We're trying to make similar plans ourselves, but we keep getting unexpected set backs. I can't wait to get back on track!
